Practice list

Build a song practice list that actually helps

A practice list should guide what you play next. If it becomes too large, it turns into another playlist that you scroll instead of using. A smaller, clearer list makes practice sessions easier to start.

Keep Practicing small

The Practicing list works best when it contains the songs you are actively learning now. Try keeping only a few songs there: one easy confidence song, one main focus song, and one stretch song. This gives every practice session a clear choice without making the library feel overwhelming.

If you see a tutorial you may want later, it can stay in the main library. Move it into Practicing when you are actually ready to work on it.

Use Completed as a review shelf

The Completed list should not be forgotten. Finished songs need occasional review or they slowly fade. Revisit completed songs when you want a warmup, a confidence boost, or a reminder of progress you have already made.

For instruments like piano, guitar, and bass, reviewing completed songs also keeps transitions, chord vocabulary, and rhythm patterns active. For drums, it helps grooves and fills stay natural. For ocarina or other melody instruments, it keeps breath control and phrasing familiar.

Rotate songs deliberately

If a song has been stuck in Practicing for a long time, decide whether to simplify it, pause it, or move it back to the general library. A practice list is allowed to change. The goal is progress, not guilt.

The Random song button is useful when you want a fresh idea from the library, but your main practice list should still be intentional. Random discovery and focused practice serve different purposes.

Add notes that help future you

Short notes can make a tutorial much more useful. Write down the section you are stuck on, the timestamp of a helpful explanation, or the skill the song is teaching. Good notes turn the site from a bookmark list into a real practice tool.

Useful examples include: chorus change at 1:20, slow left hand, good beginner strum, bass fill near the end, or practice bridge separately.
